Abstract

Mainstreaming gender in public polices is an approach that would tend to become
generalized. In Senegal, a national strategy for gender equality and equity
(SNEEG) was developed in 2005. It proceeds from the evaluation of two national
action plans for women, initiated in 1982 and 1997. Driven by a sustained
desire that manifests itself through two changes in political majority (2000 and
2012), this commitment to a dynamic of gender equality and equity should not
fail to have an impact in the field of education, particularly in higher education
and training establishment. As we begin another shift in this area, with the 2012

vote on the law on parity in elective offices, it is important to take stock of it.
The text also answers the question of what are the strategies adopted by women
to gain a place by asserting leadership in the university space which is defined
as a "world of men."
