Résumé

Adolescence and sexuality = case of the secondary school girls of Bamako in Mali
An inquiry sexuality of schoolgirls of the secondary schools of Bamako was held from
November 1998 to February 1999. It carried on a simple of 129 girls from 15 to 19 years
old and those who have completed their nineteenth years.
The survey revealed that 50 girls out of 129 were sexually active. Among these, a great
majority evoked delight as the main reason of sexual intercourse. IN 9 out of 10 cases,
the sexual partner was a friend or comrade. Yet, 8% of girls declared to have had
sexual intercourse with other person that is an unknown person.
A high proportion of girls (52%) haven't talked about sexuality neither with their
parents, nor with school officials. The taboo and the lack of interest account for justify
their attitude.
In other respects, we have noticed that 42, 0% of girls who were sexuality active at the
time of survey, used condom protector which is an excellent mean of prevention
against diseases which are sexually transmittable and the risks of unwanted pregnancy.
