Study of the determinants of perinatal mortality from obstetric complications in the health district Kéniéba (Kayes).

Abstract

In 2011, perinatal deaths account for 41% of deaths within five years. Our main objective was to study the determinants of perinatal mortality among women with obstetric complications CSRéf (Health Reference Center) Kéniéba, Kayes. We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study of 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2011. The sample size was equal to 213 obtained from Epi6. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS. The measurements were compared by simple cross analysis and logistic regression. The values of Chi², side-ratios (OR) and p have been used to interpret the results. The frequency of perinatal mortality was 41.5%. The univariate analysis was confirmed by the multivariate whose results are as follows: Class under 18 has a protective effect of 0.19 the 95% (from 0.065 to 0.57) with compared to the age group>30.5 years p = 0.003. The evacuees were referred or 4.42 times more likely to have perinatal deaths over come by themselves, equal IC (1.6 to 8.75) .The bleeding were 3.55 times risk of perinatal death, equal CI (1.09 to 12.7). After this study, it appears that the perinatal deaths (41.5%) are a public health problem in the health district Kéniéba. Thus it was found that the age of 18 have a protective factor 0.085 compared to age>30.5. The referred evacuated or have a risk of 4.42 of having perinatal deaths and bleeding where the risk is 3.55.
