Abstract

To fight against meningitis Mali adopted several strategies: reinforced surveillance, monitoring of routine, sentinel site surveillance and the introducing of MenAfriVac in 2010 which led to surveillance case by case. To assess the impact of its strategies build up, it appeared convenient to us to evaluate the performance of the largest district monitoring system in Bamako (CVI). We conducted by a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative). Exhaustiveness of system was evaluated by the method of capture. Thus we found that the existing monitoring system has five levels. Concerning system performance, we found a simplicity of 81.9%, a representativity of 62.5%, a reactivity of 83% and the completeness of structures health was 45%. The system is generally functional and well established, however completeness is only 45%, hence the need to strengthen the foundation activities and supports.
