Abstract

Introduction: since 2019, the whole world has been shaken by a disease called Corona Virus Disease 2019. The aim of this work is to analyze, information and communication around this disease in households in Mali as well as attitudes and practices adopted by households in relation to prevention measures defined during this pandemic. Material and methods: we used the database of the National Food and Nutritional Security Survey carried out in September 2020 to extract the variables of interest (implementation of preventive measures and their practice) for this secondary analysis. The extracted data were analyzed using R studio software. The Chi2 test was used to determine the nature of the relationships between the households' place of residence and the study variables. Results: Most households (85.6%) said they had received information about covid 19, and 55.4% said they had exchanged information about the disease within the household. Only 27.2% of households said they had taken steps to prevent the disease. In addition, certain measures such as distancing and handwashing were less practiced by households. Conclusion: Information about covid 19 in Mali has been widely disseminated. However, the practice of these measures was less observed within households.
