Introduction: Contraception is all the methods used to prevent pregnancy from occurring after unprotected intercourse. The aim of this work was to study the knowledge, attitudes and practices of contraception at Lycée Askia Mohamed in Commune III of Bamako. Method and materials: This was a descriptive and cross-sectional study that ran from December 2019 to February 2020 at Askia Mohamed high school in Bamako. Results: The male population was in the majority with 55℅ of cases. The method of contraception used best known by the respondents was the condom with 41.9% of cases. Among our respondents, 7.7% have already used a method of contraception at least once. The socio-religious environment with 22.7% of cases and the lack of information on contraceptive methods 15.7% of cases were the main reasons for not using contraceptive methods. Conclusion: Knowledge of contraception does not equate to its practical use in students. The challenge remains to help adolescents better understand sexuality as well as contraception in order to prevent the resulting problems, in particular unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.
