Introduction: Results-based financing (RBF) is a proven quality assurance approach. This study aims to evaluate the effect of FBR on maternal health indicators in the Dioïla health district.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study covering ten Community Health Centers covered by the FBR in the Dioïla health district. The data was collected using counting sheets and a questionnaire for stakeholders. The data collected before (2017-2019) and during the FBR (2021) were compared to assess the effect of the FBR.
Results: It appears that the first prenatal consultation (CPN1) increased from 61.39% to 70.29%. Childbirth assisted by qualified personnel increased from 24.13% to 27.63%. Postnatal consultation carried out at least three times postpartum from 19.90% to 27.19%. Family planning increased from 28.55% to 32.61%.
Conclusion: The level of performance recorded in Dioïla confirms the beneficial effect of the FBR on health services. However, a more in-depth analysis of the system is indicated to identify the inadequacies in order to consolidate in a sustainable manner the achievements linked to the RBF.
