Abstract

Introduction: Yellow fever is an Aedes mosquitoes born
disease caused by a Flavivirus. Despite the availability of
an effective vaccine in the 1930s, Mali experienced
several outbreaks of yellow fever, which were rarely
published in scientific journals. This lack of this
documentation of yellow fever epidemics constitutes a
problem for Malian researchers when interpreting and
discussing the results of their research. Material and
methods: We therefore produced this literature review on
the morbidity and mortality of yellow fever in Mali from
1960 to 2020. Results: The results of this review showed
that Mali experienced seven outbreaks of yellow fever,
during which the country reported 498 confirmed cases,
including 195 deaths (39.2 % mortality rate). This work
also showed most yellow fever outbreaks occurred in
savannah areas. Conclusion: This review will highlight
the situation for health policy leaders and will be useful for
Malian researchers.
