ntroduction: Problems related to malnutrition can have a
significant influence on the nutritional status of the
pregnant woman and the fetus. This study, which took
place in the gyneco-obstetrics department of the reference
health center (CSRéf) of Kalaban Coro, aimed to assess
the nutritional and dietary status of pregnant women.
Methodology: This was a descriptive and analytical
cross-sectional study concerning the nutritional and
dietary status of pregnant women seen in consultation at
the CSRéf of Kalaban Coro in 2022. The results were
obtained through the calculation of the standardized food
consumption score, the individual dietary diversity score,
upper arm circumference and use of statistical tests.
Results: Among the 215 pregnant women in our study,
49.3% were aged between 20-39 years, 29.3% were
nulliparous and 79.1% were married. The majority were
housewives, i.e. 62.3%, a rate of 78.1% were educated
and 47.4% had an average monthly household income of
between 50,000 – 150,000 FCFA. The 20-39 age group
had a higher consumption score than the other age
groups, p=0.046. The higher SDA in married pregnant
women than in single women was not statistically
significant (p=0.217). Conclusion: It appears from this
study that 83.7% of pregnant women had a normal
nutritional status including a consumption score of 5 food
groups for 81.4%.
