Evaluation of the quality of data and effective use of the DHIS2 in monitoring the VIH/SIDA and tuberculosis program in Mali, 2024

Abstract

Introduction: The World Health Organization considers the HIS to be one of the six essential pillars of the health system for achieving the goal of ‘health for all’. Its effectiveness guarantees the production, analysis, dissemination and use of reliable and up-to-date information on the determinants of health. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of the data and the effective use of the DHIS2 in monitoring HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis program in Mali in 2024. Methodology: This was a mixed cross-sectional study, a secondary analysis of the survey data. Using all the data in the database. It will run from September 2023 to September 2024. Results: The use of DHIS2 changed the quality of the data by improving these dimensions of completeness, accuracy and timeliness to 91.6%. Internet connection problems were the most common factor preventing its use (83.3%). The obstacles affecting its adoption were marked by the instability of the Internet connection (55.5%), disruption of the platform (25%), inadequate IT tools (14%), lack of training (11.1%), work overload and lack of mastery of certain functions (2.7%). Conclusion: This study has shed light on the level of performance of the DHIS2 in Mali and identified certain strengths and weaknesses. Lack of training, unstable internet connection, lack of IT tools, etc.
