Abstract

Objective: The objective of our study was to identify the collaboration executives between traditional health practitioners (THPs) and conventional medicine agents (CMAs) in the Bamako district. Material and Methods: The study took place from January 16 to 30, 2024, in the six municipalities of the Bamako district. It was a cross- sectional study. It involved traditional health practitioners and conventional medicine agents. Data were collected using a questionnaire; information mainly focused on patient referral, training, and supervision. Data entry and analysis were performed using EXCEL and STATA VERSION 18.5, respectively. Results: Our study involved 28 traditional health practitioners, 24 conventional medicine agents, 18 Community Health Centers (CSCom), 6 Reference Health Centers (CSRéf), and 22 traditional health practitioner associations. It showed that 85.7% of traditional health practitioners and 37.5% of conventional medicine agents were aware of the existence of a referral system between them; 56.1% of traditional health practitioners had participated in at least one training session; 53.6% of traditional health practitioners had received at least one supervision mission; 37.5% of conventional medicine agents had carried out at least one supervision mission for traditional health practitioners in the last 12 months. Conclusion: The collaboration executives between traditional health practitioners and conventional medicine agents in the Bamako district are varied; however, the most active ones identified in our study are essentially patient referrals and training. Traditional health practitioners are more likely to refer patients than conventional medicine agents.
