Onomástica literaria: el simbolismo de los nombres con los que se disfrazan los personajes en la Garduña de Sevilla

Abstract

This paper analyses the semantics of the proper noun in Alonso de Castillo Solórzano's La garduña de Sevilla. It has demonstrated that the choice of the anthroponyms the characters disguise themselves with is not accidental. The study of the onomastic system developed by this writer allows us to realize that proper nouns are not mere identifiers of the characters. Instead, they convey meanings thanks to their sociocultural and historical dimension.
