La MÉTONYMIE DANS UN CORPUS D’EXPRESSION BAMANAN : INVENTAIRE, ANALYSE ET PROPOSITION DE DÉNOMINATION BAMANAN

Metonymy is at work in this contribution. It is about the exploration of the occurrences of this figure of style in a special corpus : a bamanankan-based corpus. Collecting and reading the corpus Ŋɛɲɛkɔrɔ ka Tonnkan (ŊT), a transcribed and edited legendary epic, made it possible to embark on the pursuit of the figures of style relating to metonymy. The three successive readings of the corpus therefore opened the way to the inventory of sentences likely to contain a metonymic meaning. The inventoried statements then passed under the magnifying glasses to carry out a progressive disqualification analysis in order to retain only the unequivocal selections. With the list of sentences expressing metonymy, we proceeded to analyze the characteristics that give each statement its status as a metonymic figure. This analysis resulted in a grouping of the internal subdivisions of the metonymy according to grouping criteria that support those groupings. The explanations given about metonymy in general and about the ramifications it contains in particular shed light on the motivations of the concept naming proposals which are adopted in bamanankan in this work. The work is written in bamanankan since besides getting a theoritical draft of the figure of style in that language, an additional aim of the work is to lead the lexical enrichment of bamanankan. Therefore, a section has been supplied as a bilingual vocabulary about the coined designations.
