Abstract

Introduction: In Côte d'Ivoire, as in most countries in sub-Saharan Africa, TB remains a public health problem. Since 2012, WHO has been advocating for community integration in the fight against TB. The health region of Poro-Tchologo-Bagoué in northern Ivory Coast is suffering from tuberculosis. The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes in the prevention of the entourage of tuberculosis patients in Boundiali.

Methodology: We conducted from March 28, 2018 to May 14, 2018, a cross-sectional study for descriptive and analytical purposes, with the entourage of tuberculosis patients followed at the CDT of CSU Kouto, from a questionnaire, they were interviewed. The data collected was analyzed by the software Epi Info (version 7) and SPSS IBM Statistics 20.0.

Results: Of the 206 respondents, 174 or 84.47% lived in rural areas. The age group 25-49 was the most represented (57.77%). They were illiterate (71.84%), earned less than 50 thousand CFA francs per month (63.11%), lived in common courts (75.73%) and shared sleeping rooms (50.00%). In the event of a loved one being attacked by PTB, 12.4% of the respondents would advise him to stay at home and keep the secret. They would share the same cutlery (41.1%) and the same bed as the patient (19.8%).

Conclusion: This study demonstrates the vulnerability of the entourage of the TB patient in a context of socio-economic precariousness.
