Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 is a pandemic that has caused significant morbidity and mortality. Sominé DOLO Hospital (HSD) has been the main site for case management in the Mopti region. Objective: to describe the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and progressive characteristics of the infection with SARS-Cov-2. Methods: This is a prospective and descriptive cohort study between April and September 2020. Were included: patients collected and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, and patients testing positive elsewhere then transferred to hospital Sominé DOLO. Results: out of 345 people, 125 tested positive for the coronavirus. Men were in the majority with 68%. The age groups [31-40 years old] and [41-50 years old] were the most affected. The average age was 44.84 years. The asymptomatic forms represented 50.4%. Pulmonary and ENT symptoms were the most frequent. Comorbid cases represented 8%. Two cases (1, 6%) of infection have occurred during pregnancy. We have reported 8 cases of contamination among nursing staff. The average length of stay was 11 days. The cure rate reached 94.3% while the case fatality was 5.7%. Conclusions: the establishment of a local laboratory on site for rapid diagnosis of cases would help improve the detection rate and early management of cases. The reduction in case fatality remains dependent on effective management of severe forms. This involves providing the structure with resuscitation equipment and continuing training for staff.
