Covid-19: Epidemio-clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary aspects of the Patients treated. Case of Sikasso Hospital - Mali

Abstract
Introduction: Since the introduction of the coronavirus in Mali in March 2020, in accordance with the national response plan, Sikasso Hospital was considered a care center. The aim of this study was to describe the epidemio-clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary characteristics of patients treated for covid-19.
Method: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from March 25, 2020 to May 30, 2021. We carried out an analysis of the descriptive information of the intra-hospital death cases and the hospitalization register of the care site.
Results: In total out of 97 patients with covid-19, the intra-hospital case fatality rate was 9.28%. The positivity rate was 30.79%. The screening rate was 2.56‰. The average age was 47.50 years with a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 84. The majority of patients were made up of health workers (16.5%). Nearly 88.66% (86) of the patients came from the Sikasso region, including 60 from the city of Sikasso.
The sex ratio (male/female) was 2.23. Dyspnea was found in 40% and 10% had diabetes or hypertension comorbidity. The average length of stay was 8.70 days.
Conclusion: This study made it possible to determine the lethality linked to COVID-19 and to provide more information on comorbidity factors to improve case management at the hospital level
