Materials and methods: This was a cross-sectional study covering a period of 4 months. The study population consisted of staff and visitors to the Niamey National Hospital admitted during the study period. Results: Males and nursing staff were in the majority with 50.95% and 71.90% respectively. Hand washing was carried out in 98.67% of cases at the end of care and 60.26% at the start of care. Hydro-alcoholic gel was used by 96.68% of respondents and liquid soap by 93.37%. The most used personal protective equipment was gloves with 95.36%, gowns with 99.33% and masks with 96.02%. Conclusion: Controlling infections including COVID-19 in hospital environments requires better knowledge and monitoring of hygiene rules; continuing training of staff must be at the center of the mechanism.
