Incidence of tuberculosis in the service of respiratory CHU Point "G"

Abstract
We did a retrospective and descriptive study to determine the incidence of tuberculosis in patients attending the pulmonology department of the University Teaching Hospital of Point "G" in Bamako, Mali between January and December 2011. Of the 2,896 patients seen in 2011 at the pulmonology department, 704 were diagnosed with tuberculosis is 24.30%, including. The study population was composed of 704 TB patients all forms, with a sex ratio of 2 males (66 %) and 1 female (33 %). Sixty four patients (9%) were HIV positive. Extra-pulmonary forms were most represented with 59.6%. Among those, Pott's disease was the most represented with 26.9% followed by pleural and lymph node tuberculosis forms. Tuberculosis is an infectious and contagious disease, which makes it a public health concern at both individual and community level especially in this era of HIV/AIDS.
